- 1 skein 8-10ply cotton yarn, 100 g
- 5.5 mm (I) crochet hook
- darning needle

You will only need around 20 yards of yarn per coaster, so one skein should make approximately 9 coasters.

Abbreviations
ch – chain
Yarn over, pull through loop on hook.
sl st – slip stitch
Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull through stitch and loop on hook.
sc – single crochet
Insert hook into stitch, yarn over and pull through, yarn over and pull through last two loops on hook.
dc – double crochet
Yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull through, yarn over and pull through first two loops on hook, yarn over and pull through last two loops on hook.
puff stitch – Yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop. Yarn over again, insert hook into the same stitch and pull up another loop. Yarn over again, insert hook into the same space and pull up another loop. Yarn over and pull through all loops on hook, then yarn over once more to close the puff stitch.
bobble stitch – Yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops. Make 3 more incomplete double crochet stitches. Yarn over and pull through all loops on your hook, then yarn over once more to close the bobble stitch.

Round 1
Start with a magic circle.
Chain 4, which counts as your first double crochet + chain.
Then:
- work 1 dc, ch 1 into the magic circle
- repeat 15 more times
- slip stitch to the top of the 4th chain to join

Round 2
Chain 3, then work a puff stitch into the same stitch as the join.
Continue by working 1 puff stitch in each of the next stitches all the way around.
To make a puff stitch:
- yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop
- yarn over again, insert hook into the same stitch and pull up another loop
- yarn over again, insert hook into the same stitch and pull up another loop
- yarn over and pull through all loops on the hook
- yarn over once more to close the puff stitch
After your final puff stitch, make a slip stitch into the first space after your beginning puff stitch to join.

Round 3
Chain 3, then work a bobble stitch into the space between the first 2 puff stitches,
followed by ch 2.
Continue by working 1 bobble stitch, ch 2 in each space between puff stitches around.

- yarn over and pull through 2 loops
- make 3 more incomplete dc stitches into the same space

- chain 2
After the last bobble stitch, slip stitch into the first space after your beginning bobble to join.

Round 4
Chain 1 and place a stitch marker.
- work 3 sc in the first space
- then work 4 sc in each of the next spaces around
- work 3 sc in the final space
- join with a slip stitch to the first back loop of the first sc
Place your stitch marker back into the first stitch.

Working in the back loop only, make 1 slip stitch in each sc all the way around.
Slip stitch in the back loop of the last stitch to finish.

Cut yarn and fasten off. Weave in your ends.
